About me
My experiences as a CWRU student with anxiety and ADHD.
Hi! My name is Jainam, I am a South Asian from the Bay Area, California, where I have lived my entire life. I went to university at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, which I graduated from in May 2025 with a degree in Neuroscience and Psychology. As a student, I was a researcher, leader, and hobbyist photographer and athlete. I graduated thinking of applying to medical school, but life has got other plans for me at the moment, so I am riding with it. Follow me to see my journey!
Why am I launching this page?
I mentioned I am a student pursuing medicine. I have, my entire life, wanted to pursue higher education in the hopes of having a doctorate at the end of my name. For years, I felt that maybe it would be in engineering, physics, astronomy, biology, etc, but I know now that I want it all. I just want to pursue greatness in everything I do. I don’t really care about what I become or who I am, as long as I remain myself.
I realized I wanted to pursue medicine when my grandmother died, as her battle with Parkinson’s disease shook me and my family to our cores. During the COVID pandemic, my grandfather passed away while I was 8,000 miles away. Both of these deaths were devastating for me and my family. Incredible individuals that I looked up to greatly passed without a second chance for me to say I was sorry for not connecting with them earlier. But in the time since they’ve passed, I feel more connected to them than ever.
I spent the past 8 years learning about my life and my heritage through the lens of science and humanity. I went to CWRU to pursue medicine, but I graduated with a degree in neuroscience and psychology and decided to take some time off before I go to medical school. I want to de-influence you in the idea that you need to put your all into your career before you can put your all into yourself.
Why should you care?
You shouldn’t, I’m just a normal guy trying to do some good in the world. If you appreciate what I have to say, stick around; if not, that’s your opinion and I can’t stop you. But I’m just sharing my honest perspective of the experiences that I have had. I don’t want to make any judgements about you or the world, I just want to share what I have learned. Hopefully, you find meaning in my words and apply them to your own life. I have spent my life reading others’ works and picking up different pieces of information to build my own character.
If you’re a reader, intellectual, and hobbyist like I am, you’ll fit right in and you’ll probably like what I share. If not, you’re welcome to follow someone else.
What am I going to be sharing?
I will probably share mostly cultural pieces of art, like music, books, movies, articles, and maybe even academic papers, and providing a commentary of them from my perspective. I encourage you to review these resources on your own, do your own research and form your own opinions, and then come back and see how you feel compared to my thoughts. Maybe you’ll learn something, or even better, maybe you’ll have something to share. If you do, don’t hesitate to leave a comment or shoot me an email.
Who is welcome??
Everyone. I want to create a community of collaboration and support, with absolutely zero room for negativity or criticism. Criticism is something I struggle with, and I’m sure you do too, because oftentimes, the people criticizing us don’t realize that we might already know what we’re doing wrong. However, oftentimes, we ourselves do not know we are doing something wrong either, so criticism is something that is necessary in today’s society.
However, negativity in any manner will not be tolerated. I want to uplift and encourage others to pursue greater heights in themselves and their passions without viewing failure as a closed door. When you close the door to your house, you tend to let it breathe by opening the windows, so remember, there is always more than one way out of any room.
Whether you yourself are South Asian, African, Hispanic, East Asian, a Westerner, or anything in between, you are all welcome. I want to create a globally accepting community of scholars and humans! After all, humanity will prevail.
I am personally a South Asian Jain. You may not know what Jainism is, I encourage you to do your own research on it, but I will tell you this. The only principle that matters in Jainism is the pursuit of Truth. Anekantavada is the Sanskrit word for “many-sidedness.” As such, I am believer in all things, religious or scientific, human or non-human, black or white. However, I will not tolerate negativity, racism, prejudice, or any general attacks on any group of people. If you have an opinion you think others will flame you for, keep it to yourself. Peace ✌️.
